Do you get the same speed results with your other PCs connected to the network?
---
I'd call Comcast to make sure there isn't any problems in the area, etc. and that you are getting maximum speeds with your service.

I acutally got the Comcast Networking Package installed today and I have discussed the download speed with the tech guy. He performed a speed test and resulted about 3200kbps and then proceed to call the main office to check if there are problems and they could not find any. I have tweaked my connections with Cablenut and Dr. TCP specifically for 3000kbps/256kps settings. Could this be a problem with the Comcast Home Networking package. If it is do you know any settings for the Comcast HN.

How old is your PC? You running it through ethernet/USB/Wireless? POst specs of your system and type of connection used. Might shed some light.

I think I might be having the same problem...right now on your test I have a simple 390k download is that normal or should I be getting double that?? Even worse do I have to upgrade my service to get to the nine hundred speed? I have a new system from just the past month and I'm connecting threw a ethernet card.

another reason why I might think something is wrong is when I play ut2004 and I'm watching the ping sometimes it jumps to a lower number from always at least half my orginal number or lower then it goes back to what it was before.

JR_U-
Here are my tweak settings:

»ttester.broadbandreports ··· a=normal

And my speed results:

004-04-14 06:26:54 EST: 4124 / 355
Your download speed : 4223972 bps, or 4124 kbps.
A 515.6 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 364342 bps, or 355 kbps.

I also have DU Super Controller downloaded to my computer - helps level out the downloads and I get a constant 4.3 down with it. I'll attach a Net Per Sec pic as well-

Hope this helps you a little bit..

sleepy22 ,

Your Power Levels are fine, but you might want to start your own thread.

Jay_Are ,

Does it happen on all the PCs? It might be your NIC, Not sure.

Instead of DU Super Controller I'm using my Netscreen 5XP (I manage the bandwidth of all of the computers in my home network that way). I think that there is some Linux based router software available that will let you do bandwidth limiting/traffic shaping too. (If I didn't already have the 5XP I would probably have gone that route)

Without the traffic shaping I get results almost exactly like JR_U's. With the traffic shaping it is more like JeepMatt's, though not quite as good. [Home Networking] Help on achieving 4000+kbps download speed - Comcast XFINITY (22) (510 K Bytes per second if I recall correctly)

JeepMatt, question. How are you pingable?

Im assuming you maybe have the Pro package? Im on the HN package and have been trying to find a way to make myself pingable, but I dont see anyways of doing so within the comcast supplied Linksys Modem/Router unit. Know of a way with this unit? heh.

Mr R-
I always assumed you made yourself pingable on YOUR computer end of things, not through the router.

But yes, I am on the HN package. I never changed anything after they hooked me up with the Gateway.
